Nicole and Ronald

Nicole and Ronald were married back in December and had a beautiful reception at the Sheraton Society Hill. Erin and her team at Proud to Plan were on hand to make sure everything went smoothly and we had the pleasure of doing the lighting. We up lit the room in red and then did a snow flake break up pattern on the dance floor along with the couples monogram.

Thanks to Faith West Photography for the images.

{Tune in Tuesday} Becky

I don't listen to the radio much anymore and don't know a lot of current artists or new music. When I'm in the car with my daughter, I usually have B101 on - I know a decent amount of what they play and she likes it.

Recently I've been listening to the Mumford & Sons album. I like their sound, plus I'm a big lyrics person and I like what they have to say.

I've always loved Motown and think the Big Chill soundtrack is the best of all time. Billy Joel, James Taylor and Neil Young have also always been favorites of mine.

I also like John Mayer, Jack Johnson, Damien Rice, Mat Kearny, The Fray, Pat McGee Band, etc.

Thanks so much to Jenn Childress for the image, it is one of my all time favorites!

{Get To Know Us Monday} Matt Bowyer

Matt is one of our DJ's and has been with Synergetic for quite a while now. For those of you who don't know him, nows your chance to "meet" him. And even if you have met him, now you can get to know him better. (Thanks to Joy Moody for the image).

Becky: Where are you from?
Matt: I have lived in a few different places, but I graduated from Pennsbury High School, so I like to say I’m from the Levitown area. I live in Horsham now.

B: Do you have a “day” job?
M: I'm a DJ 24/7.

B: What’s your favorite type of music? Do you have a favorite song?
M: I like rock even though there are so many different kinds of rock now. My cousin was in all types of rock bands growing up, so I guess I grew to love it. I can’t really say one song is my favorite but it would probably be something by the Counting Crows.

B: How’d you get into DJing? What’s your favorite thing about it?
M: Mike Keleher showed me how songs could be blended together seamlessly and I have been hooked ever since. My favorite thing about DJing is when I mix an old song and a newer song together and the crowd goes crazy for both songs.

B: What did you want to be when you grew up? Is it still an option? ?
M: Like every kid growing up I wanted to be a professional baseball player. It isn’t much of an option now, but I still love the game. I play Sunday morning softball in the summer.

B: What’s your favorite type of event to DJ, why?
M: A wedding. No two weddings are ever the same. I love the challenge of finding that perfect blend of music to fit the crowd that evening to keep them dancing till the party stops.

B: What are your favorite things to do/hobbies?
M: I love playing sports so when I can I love playing softball, roller hockey, and golf. I also love watching the Philadelphia sports teams: Flyers, Phillies and Eagles.

B: How long have you been a DJ?
M: I’ve been a DJ at synergetic for about 7 years now.

B: WHat's your favorite movie?
M: A very hard question. The one movie I can watch over and over is Shawshank Redemption, so I guess I would say that is my favorite.

B: Do you have any pets?
M: Yes. My girlfriend and I have a six month old cat named Memphis.

Make sure to check back every Monday for another Q&A. If you have anything you'd like to know about us, leave a comment with your question, post it on our Facebook page or send it in to beckyd@synergeticsounds.com.

{Video} Lighting at the Downtown Club

This was another great wedding at The Downtown Club. This room looks so good in amber and we had the pleasure of working with the team at Proud to Plan to come up with the perfect design for this wedding.

{Get To Know Us Monday} Mike

Mike is one of our DJ's and an all around nice guy. He's also Mr. July in our calendar - if you don't have one yet, what are you waiting for?! It's filled with good looking guys, fantastic photography, it's only $10 and goes to an amazing cause! (Thanks so much to Gabe of Philip Gabriel Photography for the image).

Becky: Where are you from?
Mike: Fairless Hills, PA

B: Do you have a day job? What is it?
M: Yes, I'm currently taking classes at West Chester University and Working at IceWorks in Aston, PA as a strength and conditioning coach.
B: What's your favorite type of music?
M: My favorite type of music is hip hop. I love the flow, the beats and the stories behind each song. However it depends on how my day is going and what i'm doing at the time.

B: How did you get into DJing? What's your favorite thing about it?
M: I was introduced to DJing through Kurt Mehler back in 2005. I went out to my first job with Jason at the Top of the Tower in Philadelphia and instantaneously fell in love with the atmosphere. My favorite thing about it is the creativity involved in controlling the party.

B: What did you want to be when you grew up? Is it still an option? Is that what you do now? M: When I was younger I wanted to work in a Zoo as a Zoo Keeper. It is not an option now - although I do like animals, I chose a different career path. Along with working as a strength and conditioning coach for the Little Flyers organization I am also training a few figure skaters.

B: What is your favorite type of event to DJ, why?
M: My favorite type of event to DJ would have to be a wedding. Weddings are definitely the most challenging type of event to DJ due to the variety of guests and many different age groups. Weddings allow me to show my true colors and creativity.
B: What are your favorite things to do/hobbies?
M: The most peaceful place for me is the outdoors. Consequently, my favorite activities are playing sports, hiking (with the dog), snowboarding, mountain biking - basically anything outside.

B: How long have you been a DJ?
M: 6 years

B: What's your favorite movie?
M: Casino

B: Do you have any pets?
M: Yes, I have two dogs. Milo a 4 year old a pekanese poodle and Riley a 3 year old american bulldog.

Wish Upon A Wedding

Last week Kelly and I attended the Philadelphia Wish Upon A Wedding Launch Party at Top of the Tower. It was a wonderful event to introduce and show off an amazing organization. Wish Upon a Wedding is a nonprofit organization that provides weddings and vow renewals to couples facing terminal illness or other serious life-threatening circumstances, regardless of sexual orientation.

When I first saw talk of Wish Upon A Wedding last year, I immediately signed Synergetic Sounds up as a Wish Granter and asked how we could get involved. I cannot imagine what it feels like to be told your days are numbered, especially when that means leaving behind someone you love. With the help of Wish Upon A Wedding and Wish Granters, these couples can have the wedding of their dreams and create memories to last a lifetime. It is an honor to be a part of an organization like this.

It took a lot of people to make this party happen, and it was incredible. Mark Kingsdorf, owner of Queen of Hearts Wedding Consultants, and President of the Philadelphia Chapter of Wish Upon A Wedding, gave a beautiful presentation and showed a video of past wish receivers, which left us all in tears.

Ed of Branded Productions was there recording the event and he and his team put together this wonderful video. Pay close attention, you might see someone you know :). And Paul of Unique Concepts Studio, Inc. captured the event beautifully.

{Tune in Tuesday} Jim

Jim is one of our second DJ's and a super nice guy. We got to know him a while back, and now he's sharing what he listens to with us.

I enjoy all kinds of music, but if I had to narrow down my favorite, it would be U2. I saw them live at the Wachovia Center and I have been hooked ever since.

If I am at party, Old School hip hop is what I liked to hear - House of Pain, Rob Base, DJ Cool, Tribe Called Quest, etc.

Recent music that I have been adding to my ipod is Usher, Rhianna, Katy Perry, BEP and anything that has a great beat and isn't too hard core rap.

But all in all I enjoy variety of all ages, genres, and mixes.

{Get To Know Us Monday} Justin

Happy Monday! We hope you all had a wonderful weekend and enjoyed last nights big game! A couple of weeks ago Justin shared his current musical favorites, today, we'll get to know him better.

Becky: Where are you from?
Justin: Southampton, PA

B: Do you have a "day" job?
J: Right now I am working at Giant Supermarket managing the prepared foods department and am also looking for a job in the sports management field.
B: What is your favorite type of music? Favorite song?
J: I love every type of music, but recently my favorite has been Baltimore club music because it has so much energy. My favorite song right now is Asher Roth, G.R.I.N.D.

B: How did you get into DJing?
J: I used to DJ parties for my friends when I was at Immaculata University and after I graduated, one of my friends who works for Synergetic, Chris Chiarolanza, said I should check out Synergetic Sounds since I was looking for a job that I would enjoy.

B: What did you want to be when you grew up? Is it still an option?
J: I wanted to be in the NBA when I was younger - I used to play in at least 3 basketball leagues at a time until I played one year at Immaculata. Basketball is always a game I loved to play but it requires a lot of time and effort and I wanted to put that effort into my school work and concentrate on graduating. It is definitely not an option anymore, haha, but I still play in an adult league in Warminster.

B: What's your favorite type of event to DJ, why?
J: Weddings are always fun - the atmosphere is amazing - but I was a 2nd DJ at a school dance and that blew my mind. All the kids were having a great time dancing to new music, which I like to play and listen to.

B: WHat are your favorite things to do/hobbies?
J: One of the things I really like to do is watch movies and tv shows - I could watch them all day, especially Lost. I also like to listening to new music and making mixtapes for my friends so they have something new to listening to.
B: How long have you been a DJ?
J: Well, since I started playing music at parties it has been 5 years, but I have been with Synergetic for almost a year.

B: What's your favorite movie?
J: I have way too many favorite movies but my all time favorite that I know almost every word to (sadly) is Clerks, then I would have to say Old School and Step Brothers.
B: Do you have any pets?
J: Yes, a 10 year old yellow lab named Maddie.
Make sure to check back every Monday for another Q&A. If you have anything you'd like to know about us, leave a comment with your question, post it on our Facebook page or email it in to beckyd@synergeticsounds.com.

A Sugar and Sparkle Soiree- Guest post from Leigh at La Petite Fleur

What’s in a name? Well, for this Bat Mitzvah … inspiration for decadent decorations and spirited atmosphere.

Lovingly nicknamed “Carkly Sparkly” by her family, Carly’s penchant for confections (and fashion) is almost as big as her fun-loving personality.

Seizing this creative cue, the La Petite Fleur Design Team — led by owner and creative director Leigh Karsch— produced a “Sugar and Sparkle Soiree,” which beckoned guests to celebrate in style with Carly and her family (just like they were kids in a candy boutique). The event’s playful palette boasted metallic golds and, of course, pink in all its most fabulous shades — from raspberry and fuchsia, to a pale iridescent.

The LPF Design Team went on to transform Congregation Beth Am, which played host to this sweetest of soirees, into a fanciful representation of all that Carly loves — from family and friends, to confections and fashion.

Warm lighting filled the reception room, courtesy of our beloved buds at Synergetic Sound and Lighting, while Carly’s name (in lights nonetheless!) beamed at party-goers from the stage. Gold chiviarri chairs wrapped excitedly around the tables. Adult tables were topped with towering glass trumpets filled with crystallized pink water and adorned with die-cut, shimmering gold-metallic table numbers, some were dressed with tall, gold rectangular vases filled with bouquets of pink rock candy and others were filled with perky fuchsia gerbera daisies. The teens’ tables featured a collection of beribboned candy counter jars filled with adorably-tempting — color-palette-perfect — sweets. Pinspotting by Synergetic highlighted all of the sparkly details.

For more detail on this event, visit La Petite Fleur's blog, Inspired Aisle, or their website.

A special corporate event

Back in September, Bryn Mawr Hospital hosted their 40th Anniversary Gala, and they contracted us to provide the A/V for it. This was a special event for them because they had invited Bob Woodruff, the ABC News journalist who was injured in Iraq, to be their keynote speaker.

So many people wanted to attend the event that the production design was a little challenging. Instead of your typical projector and screen, we had to set up six 60 inch plasma screens throughout the room that ran three different feeds. All I can say is wow! We've never had so many screens that big before. But it looked awesome.

The hospital loved everything that we did. The project leader from the hospital said "You guys did a great job! Your team was great to work with." The producer of the event told us, "That was a tough job and you guys did a real nice job."

Jason was the the project manager for this event. "This was a challenging event, because we had to manage getting two separate sources of video on the screens at the same time. Logistically we were able to make it work and still come in on budget."

The one big thing we try and shoot for is keeping the event on budget without sacrificing the look and sound of it. This particular project was one that we did just that.

{Tune in Tuesday} Pat Boyle

We got to know Pat last week. Now he's sharing his playlist with us.

I listen to house style music- David Guetta, Dead Mau5e, AfroJack and hiphop artists such as Drake, Eminem, Jay-z, Fabulous, and PitBull. I also listen to Black Eyed Peas, a little country and some classic rock to mix things up.
