Pamela and Mark

Back in September I had the pleasure of working at The Merion. We work there a lot and Cliff and the crew always do a fabulous job. The food is great, the attention to detail is always spot on and the little touches they add to eachevent always make it memorable.

This wedding was for Pam and Mark and I met them last year at our new office, which if you haven’t seen you have to come stop by, and we clicked right away.

In our office you are not only able to relax and get a chance to meet us, but you are able to see all of our lighting options, as well as see how we mix. Our new DreamSpace is even bigger now, over 1000 square feet! During the meeting I was really able to get to know them and they were able to get to know me, which is the most important. Feeling comfortable with your DJ is key!

It was good that they were able to see the lighting too because Pam had always wanted to have pin spotting. We were able to show her that, as well as the up lighting. She had been to a few other places that offered up lighting, but was very impressed by the way we brought more fixtures and were able to make it look more like a wash and not a column like effect.

The day of the event was busy. We had four guys there to get the show up and with the tight turn around time we had, it took all of us the whole time to get it up and set. The result was awesomeness! The room looked great.

Our dance floor was full too! Like most of the couples that hire Synergetic, Pam and Mark allowed me to program most of the night myself. I was able to mix in older songs like "Run Around Sue," and "I Want You Back," as well as new songs like "Give Me Everything" and "Raise Your Glass." I was shocked on one song though, they loved ""Shake Shake Senora! There is always one song that just does it at a wedding.

We worked with Jennifer Childress on this wedding and she got some great shots. Working with her is so much fun and makes for a great night. When we work with friends and people we know well the end result is always that much better.

If you are looking for a DJ, I would love the chance to sit down and talk to you. Just call Kelly in the office and she'll get the process started.

Lighting at The Merion

If you have been to The Merion before, you know how awesome it is! For this wedding, we did purple up lighting on the main walls, red in the corners and pin spotted every other table. The color combination turned out really nice and the pin spotting of the taller center pieces really made them stand out.

Working for other industry professionals

One of the things that makes us feel really good is when other industry professionals hire us for their own personal events. As you can imagine, as professionals in the event industry, they have seen a number of DJ and lighting companies over the years - but they trusted us with their special event. That means a lot to us.

When Ashley Rhine, a sales associate for the Mendenhall Inn, was planning her wedding, she knew she wanted to hire us to do the lighting from the very beginning. She loved the way we lit the ballrooms at the Mendenhall and that is what she wanted for her wedding at Appleford.

When Liz Stout, sales associate at Holly Hedge Estate, was discussing DJs with her daughter for her upcoming wedding, she told her daughter that she just had to meet with us. How many DJs has she seen over the years? Hundreds. But we stood out!

When Denise DiSilvestro got engaged she knew she had to hire us. We worked with her a number of times during her years at Celebrations and now at The Merion - she has probably heard hundreds of DJs, but she wanted us for her reception.

Or how about almost everyone at Knowlton Mansion! We have done so many private events for the sales team, event day servers and bartenders. We have a wonderful relationship with the staff at Knowlton and love working with them - on client events and their own.

And how about one more. Natalie of Go Festive was married this past January and she knew she wanted to enhance the look and feel of the room with some lighting. We were the first company she called. Her company does about 5 weddings a weekend, so you can imagine how honored we were when she called us to up light the ballroom, provide a dance floor wash and pin spot her centerpieces. Click here to see more from her wedding.

All of these professional friends made us feel so good - it is a huge compliment to be hired to work on an event for another industry professional, especially with so many companies to choose from. So, thank you. Thank you for trusting us with your event. And thank you to the other professionals that we didn’t mention - this would be quite a long post if we mentioned everyone.

A closer look at The Merion

There is something about the Bellagio Casino & Hotel in Las Vegas that makes you feel special. From the way the hostess greets you to the sleek marble floors, the experience you have while inside makes you want to come back for more. The art of creating demand for a facility lies within producing memorable experiences.

In my opinion, The Merion in Cinnaminson, NJ, accomplishes just that. When a guest first walks in the illustrious front doors they are greeted by a host/hostess who welcomes them to the facility and instructs them where to go. At this point, the guest has no idea what they are about to experience. No matter which room the event they’re attending is taking place in, they are in store for a fun night full of elaborate food and drink presentations and most importantly, impeccable service catering to their every need.

Last weekend I had the pleasure of DJing and lighting Renata & Nick Cacciatore’s wedding reception. Using up lighting and dance floor washes we helped create an intimate atmosphere in the Empire Ballroom. We also illuminated the beautiful floral arrangements from Precious Petals with pin spotting.

Only working at the Merion personally a few times prior to this wedding I was unfamiliar with a majority of the staff and how important they are to the success of each wedding taking place on a particular night, not just the one they are personally working on. It was amazing to observe how a facility can effective manage several different events at the same time.

With so much to set up for Renata and Nick’s reception, I arrived at The Merion about three and a half hours before the event was to begin. I was immediately greeted by Don, the Maitre D for the event. He instructed me on the most efficient way to load in, and explained how he envisioned the night going.

As our team was setting up I witnessed some of the best communication and management by a facility I have ever seen. From the owners, to the sales managers, to the servers, everyone was connected by earpieces, working seamlessly as one unit, to make Renata and Nick’s evening as special as possible. I was speaking with Denise (whose wedding I have the honor of DJing this June) about how each sales manager personally ensures every aspect of the wedding goes off without a hitch.

Anyone considering The Merion for their wedding or special event is in for quite a treat. It speaks volumes when a facility goes the extra mile for their clients. The Merion manages it so well that there is no traffic.

Thanks so much to Chris Kendig of Chris Kendig Photography for the beautiful pictures.

Senior Prom at the Merion

In early May we had the privilege of DJ'ing a Senior Prom at The Merion. Dan I. was the DJ and he had nothing but great things to say about the students and their prom! "The immense spiral staircase and marble floors and columns in the lobby of the Merion give you the feeling that you are in the Coliseum of Rome. And the appropriately titled theme “When in Rome,” was a great addition to the atmosphere of this extravagant night," Dan said. After enjoying the wonderful food prepared by the Merion's chefs. the students made their way onto the dance floor.

Throughout the night students made their way to the DJ table to make their requests and talk to Dan. The students danced all night long. Dan played a wide variety of genres and music to satisfy the diverse song requests of the students and staff and at the end of the night he received tons of complements and high fives. The students even had a “DJ” chant going.

Thanks Dan for a great job! Below are some images courtesy of Stephanie Butchin at Broken Glass Images.
