A couple of thank yous

We received this great thank you from Christie and Mike - they were married in June at Cairnwood Mansion.

"We never got to tell you how wonderful you were at our wedding. A DJ or band is such a big deal. We’ve seen weddings succeed and some crash and burn mainly due to the music. We weren’t interested in a band- we didn’t like the idea of not playing the real songs and having someone cover everything. But- a DJ made us nervous because we didn’t want to go cheesy. We were so excited after we met with you for the first time. You actually made us confident about our decision and we were no longer doubting the idea- we were actually looking forward to it.

It was a very very hectic day- but when I heard Kenny Chesney during cocktail hour- I stopped dead in my tracks and turned to Mike and said 'Oh my god- this is our wedding- and we are listening to Kenny at our wedding.' That was the first hit of the night from you- you really listened to us- but you didn’t let us run the show. Which was important because we were happy- but our guests weren’t bored with our country music. You were just amazing. You played everything we wanted (which I didn’t think was possible) and even more things we wanted and never even told you. I can’t explain how much you made our wedding!! You were also clutch when it came to intros, our first dance, the garter toss- you were right there organizing us and helping us. It was so crazy I was amazed how well you did everything.

We were just so nervous about people having a good time. I didn’t even finish eating dinner before I was out on the dance floor. Mike and I talked before the wedding and we said how much it was going to suck because we weren’t looking forward to sitting in a corner talking to Aunt Sue and just sitting at tables talking to people. I just kept whining saying 'Miiiike, I don’t want to be the Bride- I just want to dance all night.' Hahaha and because of you- you made something possible we didn’t think would happened. You were so awesome- that we socialized ON the dance floor instead of watching the dance floor. You honestly were the #1 reason Mike and I enjoyed our Wedding. It was the best night of our life. I said to you that we wanted it to be like the best night at a bar/club and you delivered. Not just to our young friends, but to my older relatives. Aunts and Uncles I never knew could dance were busting a move.

Matt I would recommend you to everyone in the world- and if we ever need a DJ you will be the first one I’ll call. I can’t thank you enough for making our Wedding go beyond our dreams and expectations.
"

Christie and Mike - we're so glad you were pleased! You really know how to make someone feel good! We wish you all the best!

Gina and Jeff had a fun reception at Currents Ballroom at the Adventure Aquarium. Matt Bowyer and Lex DJ'd their wedding last month and kept the dance floor busy. We just received this thank you from Gina and Jeff.

"Hello Synergetic! We just wanted to say thanks again for being a part of our wedding. Everyone had a great time and the music was wonderful. You guys are awesome and I look forward to working with you again (hopefully) at all of my sisters' future weddings. Thanks again!!!
-Gina and Jeff (7/10/10)"

Congratulations Gina and Jeff! We wish you all the best and look forward to seeing you at your sisters weddings soon! :)

We love happy clients!

Wedding season has begun! It is a crazy time of year, but we love it. We love what we do and have some of the best clients! Thank you's and comments like the ones below are why we do what we do.

You may remember the post we did last month about Jamie and Tony's vintage wedding at Cairnwood. It was a beautiful wedding!
"We couldn’t have asked for anything more. Everyone was on the dance floor the entire night. We had such an amazing time. So many of our friends have said they’ve never had so much fun at a wedding and we definitely entirely credit the dancing part of the evening to you guys. Thank you so much! -Jamie and Tony"

Brooke and Scott had a beautiful reception at Pearl S. Buck International.
"We were extremely happy with Dave and the company! Dave did a tremendous job. He kept everyone up and dancing the entire time. Dave also added in the country music like we asked where everyone could enjoy it! I will recommend this company and Dave in the future! Thank you so much for the professionalism and the quality performance at the wedding and in the planning! -Brooke and Scott"

Julie and James had a stunning reception at The Crystal Tea Room. We did the lighting and the room looked amazing! But you don't have to take my word for it - we got this from Julie.
"Jason, It was FABULOUS!!!!"
A blog post with those images is coming soon thanks to Joy Moody Photography!

Jamie and Tony

Jamie and Tony had a beautiful, vintage inspired wedding at Cairnwood Mansion. Matt and Chris kept the dance floor busy all night, and added to the ambience with up lighting, a dance floor wash and the couples monogram.

Congratulations Jamie and Tony! Thank you so much for allowing us to be a part of your special day!

A big thanks to our friends Tim and Lauren at Dinofa Photography for the beautiful images. They do amazing work and are a blast to be around :).

Building lighting

Ever since we did the event at Feastivities (thank you Meryl!)back in November, we have been getting submissions for us to light up other buildings. In fact, we have been doing this for a while, its just we have done it more frequently over the last few weeks with it being darker out earlier.

Cairnwood was one of those properties. In December, Shannon asked us to provide some cool lighting to the Cairnwood by Candle light event. We designed a lighting scheme that would allow all the guests, as well as the cars on the pike, to see the outside building in all its grandeur. We up lit the building in a amber/yellow wash and then projected a green floral pattern over it. The effect looked great! As people were driving up to the event, the mansion stood out.

Thanks Shannon for letting us be a part of the event and we look forward to more events with you and the staff in the future.

Andrew & Lauren

There’s something about the initial meeting with a client that I can tell a bit about how their reception is going to go. From the connection we have, to the descriptions about their friends and family, the meeting is where the foundation is built. The most important part of the meeting for the client is getting a chance to meet me and feel out my personality to make sure we’re a good match for the reception. The most important part of the meeting for me to figure what type of couple I am going to be working with. The strength of our relationship ultimately plays into the success of the reception.

Immediately after meeting with Drew and Lauren back in November of 08, I knew how fun their reception was going to be. Not only were they excited to be planning their wedding, but they were very interested in making their reception the best time anyone has ever experienced; and their goal was attained quite well. Drew and Lauren put together an amazing team of vendors in Cairnwood Mansion, Robert Fair Caterers, Artistic Imagery, Video from TJR, and Synergetic managing the entertainment and lighting. I had this wedding circled on my calendar for quite some time now, so when the day finally came I was excited to be able to take part in what was to be the best reception ever. However there was one huge problem.

The Eagles were scheduled to play against Dallas in an epic playoff matchup. When I learned that the game was to be played during their reception I was disappointed because I didn’t want it to take anything away from the hard work Drew and Lauren put in to making their reception a great time. After speaking with Drew we came up with a plan that would work not only for the reception but also for the after-party as well. DVR is a beautiful invention. The plan was for the guests to not mention any score during the reception, and all go to the afterparty to watch the game as if it were live. The key to the success of this plan was to make sure no guest mentioned anything about the game (good or bad) during the reception. So right before introductions I made an announcement that the Eagles had learned about Drew and Lauren’s wedding and made an agreement with the Cowboys to delay the game for 4 hours until the reception was over; and any guest who thought there was a “playoff football game” going on would keep the imaginary score to themselves. The planned worked perfectly, except for the Eagles loss, and the wedding lived up to its excitement. Lauren looked absolutely beautiful even though some of her pictures required her to outside in the cold with no coat!!

At the end of the reception one of Cairnwood’s staff members mentioned to me that you know it’s a great reception when the entire library’s windows are fogged to the point where you cannot see out of them. From myself, and the entire Synergetic team we wish Drew and Lauren the best of luck in starting their new family!

Matt

Thanks to Jen from Artistic Imagery for the amazing photographs.

Theresa and Scott

Theresa and Scott had a beautiful ceremony and reception at Cairnwood Mansion. Cairnwood is an amazing place, with a lot of character and we are very lucky to work there regularly. Theresa and Scott are an extremely fun couple (as you will see from the pictures below) and we are thrilled that we were a part of their special day. Matt and Chris DJ'd the reception and we also did the up lighting, dance floor break ups, monogram and pin spotting.

Thanks so much to Jackie Bayne of Love Shack Photography for the awesome images! Check out the Love Shack site for more of this wedding!

Theresa and Scott, we wish you the very best!

Theresa and Scott surprised their guests with a choreographed hip hop dance. Check out their outfits!

An All Pro Wedding

On January 13th of this year I received an email requesting some information about our services for a wedding. I called the number provided in the email and spoke with Dan Orlovsky (the groom) about his upcoming wedding. From that first conversation I could tell this was going to be a wedding that was a step above the rest. His name sounded familiar, but it wasn’t until we met, that I realized who he was. Imagine my excitement, as a huge football fan, when Dan and his fiancee (at the time) Tiffany walked into our office, and I realized he was a quarterback for the Houston Texans. As a professional, I decided not to bring up his profession during our meeting. Even taking into account who Dan is and what he does, it was hard to distinguish he and Tiffany from any other couple in love. I noticed very quickly that they were great people, with big hearts, madly in love.

A few days after the meeting, they called and booked our services for their wedding. I was very excited because I knew that their wedding was going to be a great time. In my opinion Dan and Tiffany put together an all pro team of vendors for their wedding. They chose the beautiful Cairnwood Mansion for their ceremony and reception. The food was provided by Jimmy Duffy Catering and the event design was executed by ZN Designs. Justin and Mary Marantz photographed the wedding, Beautiful Blooms provided the stunning flowers and we DJ'd and did the lighting for their reception.

In the months leading up to the wedding, Dan and I traded emails discussing plans for the wedding. I placed a lot of pressure on myself to make sure Dan and Tiffany had the wedding of their dreams, not because of his profession, but more from the connection I formed with them. I truly felt as though I was helping a friend as opposed to a client. I wanted to personally ensure that every aspect of their wedding was perfect.

When we arrived at Cairnwood the entire team of vendors worked together seemlessly so that the over all look and feel of the wedding was just what the couple wanted. I couldn’t believe how much energy the guests had when the reception started. The reception was scheduled to end at 11 p.m. - Dan approached me right before and asked to extend the reception another hour because everyone was having such a great time. I was more than happy to stay, because I was also having a great time.

From the beautiful designs, to the gorgeous weather, Dan and Tiffany had the perfect wedding. The perfect wedding starts with the perfect couple and they are the epitome of one. I am very glad I had the chance to work with them and I wish them nothing but the best.

Thanks so much to Justin and Mary Marantz for the beautiful images. To see more from this wedding, check out their blog.

Cairnwood Roaring 20's Gala

A couple of weeks ago I posted a quick blurb with a few pictures from the Annual Cairnwood Gala. The Gala was held on March 27 at the beautiful Cairnwood Mansion. This years theme was the Roaring 20's, and the dress and decor certainly matched the theme.

I spoke to Shannon Walko from Carinwood this morning. She said, "The Cairnwood roaring 20's gala was a spectacular event thanks to the imaginative lighting from Synergetic Sounds. Jason and his staff were fantastic to work with and helped to bring the whole event to life."

We were so happy to be able to participate in this great event. We did, up lighting throughout the house in red and amber; pin spotting of various flower arrangements and tables; area lighting on the front patio; a cobblestone gobo projection on the floor of the great hall; live video projection of moon lit clouds on the ceiling of the great hall; up lighting of the upstairs lounge and VIP area; and Dan Esteves spun vocals and disco house in the VIP room.

Shannon happily shared that this years Gala raised over $50,000 towards restoration and preservation projects on the Cairnwood Estate, including the Cairnwood garden house.

A number of local event professionals, from planners to caterers, photographers to DJ's, lighting professionals to florists, and everyone in between, came together to help set the scene for this fantastic night! For a full list of event sponsors and participants, please visit the Cairnwood Gala website.

The incredible food came from a number of fantastic, local, caterers including, Culinary Concepts, Feastivities, Jeffrey Miller Catering, Jimmy Duffy's Catering, Max Hansen Caterer, Peachtree & Ward, Karen's Catering and Robert Fair Catering.

Thanks to the fabulous Jackie Bayne and Love Shack Photo for capturing the event. The pictures are amazing and really show what an incredible night it was.

Cairnwood Gala

Last Friday we participated in the Cairnwood Gala, an annual charity event to support the ongoing work of preserving and restoring Cairnwood and its grounds. The inaugural Gala in 2008 raised over $45,000 for restoration and preservation projects at Cairnwood. These projects included restoring the entry gates to the estate on Huntingdon Pike and recreating the original Olmstead and Eliot designed path which leads from Cairnwood’s veranda to the Garden House. Funds were also used to reproduce, in historically accurate fashion, some of Cairnwood’s original rugs and runners.

Proceeds from this years Roaring 20's Gala will be used to restore the Cairnwood Garden House and adapt it for reuse as an accessible and inviting education center which will be used to increase the exposure of Cairnwood and the Bryn Athyn Historic District.

I will post more about the Gala and those involved in the coming weeks, but here are a few teaser pictures, courtesy of the fabulous Jackie Bayne & Patrick Simione and Love Shack Photo.
