This Christmas

With Christmas right around the corner it’s easy for people to lose sight of what’s really important. Two days before the big day tons of last minute shoppers are packing the malls determined to get that perfect gift. As we all are excited to celebrate Christmas of 2009 and the welcoming of 2010 our entire team would like to thank all vendors, clients, friends and family for an amazing year. 2009 was our best year to date and we are eager to see what 2010 has to bring. It is important for us to take a step back and reflect on the great relationships we have built over the year and how they have impacted our events.
We have such an amazing team of DJ’s, Production and Office Staff that make up the entire Synergetic team. I am very thankful I have the opportunity to work with these great people on a daily basis. No gift could equal the amount of fun we all have working with each other throughout the year. I don’t know too many people who can describe their work environment as an appealing one to be in such as ours. The only reason it is this way is because of the people we work with. From unique photographers, to creative planners our events are successful from not only the individual roles we each bring, but the cohesive bonds we form while working them.
We’d like to wish all of our clients and vendors a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!! We hope that 2010 brings more great events for us to produce for, and with great people.

Lighting at Westover Country Club

Danielle and Greg had a winter wonderland reception at Westover Country Club earlier this month. We uplit the room in blue and provided a snowflake dancefloor wash. They were nice additions to the couples theme and the room looked beautiful!

When is a good time to call you back?

As the person in the company who handles all of our DJ clients, it is imperative that I contact them in a timely manner. But what is considered a timely manner?

Last week I had a conversation with a potential client who is planning her wedding and just started her search for entertainment. She told me that on Tuesday she reached out to four different DJ companies in the area looking for more information. Being at work, email was her only means of communication, and in each email, she clearly stated that she was unable to talk on the phone during the day. To her disgust, two of the four companies called her cell phone within 10 minutes of her email. She wasn’t sure if the vendors who called were displaying great customer service or an act of desperation.

We traded emails over the course of a couple days and set up a convenient time to chat on the phone about entertainment for her wedding. I asked her what her feelings were on how long a professional should wait to call her back and her view was that they should not call immediately, but that they shouldn’t wait three days to contact her either. Her biggest issue was that she specifically stated in her email not to call during the day, and two of them called anyway. As we spoke in more detail I started thinking to myself just how important the length of time a professional waits to call a prospective client back is. There are a ton of factors that go into selecting entertainment for a wedding reception; with each client prioritizing the factors differently.

A word of advice for brides-to-be; make sure you state in your emails to professionals when a good time is for them to contact you. As one of those professionals, there is nothing worse than bothering you with information when you’re just about to sit down to dinner or walk into an important meeting. We all have different means of getting you the information you need to make the important decisions while planning your wedding - whether it be via the phone, email, or snail-mail - each piece of information you get helps you decide who will make the cut and who won’t. Ultimately your team of professionals is going to have an enormous impact on your wedding day. The relationship you build with them is very important - the end result can depend on it - so it’s always nice to start off on the right foot.

Happy Chanukah!

Chanukah begins tonight at sundown - we wish you and your family a very happy and healthy Chanukah!

I am looking forward to taking out the menorah, lighting the candles and making/eating latkes. Latkes can be a pain to make (for those of us who aren't great cooks), but they are so worth it! There are thousands of recipes out there, but I find using an egg and some starch, as well as squeezing as much water as possible out of the potatoes is very helpful. Frying latkes is the tradition, but for those who are health conscious, you can bake them as well. It's not the same but they're still good - plus you can always add some extra applesauce!

So however you celebrate, whether it's at home with a few loved ones, or at a huge party singing songs and playing dreidel, enjoy!

Eileen and Mike

We really do have the best clients, the thank you notes have just been rolling in this week!

We received the following from Eileen and Mike:
"My husband Mike and I wanted to send a thank you to everyone at Synergetic Sounds, particularly Matt Blank. Make and I were married on Friday, November 6 and Matt was the DJ at our wedding. My husband and I are *huge* music lovers and finding the perfect DJ was very important to us. We found Synergetic through a referral from a friend and loved your professionalism from the first phone call.

I initially spoke with Jason who let me know that Matt was available on our wedding night to DJ our reception. When Mike and I met with Matt, we talked with him about what we would like in a DJ - someone who would talk on the microphone minimally and keep the dance floor packed all night. After that first meeting, Mike and I both felt confident that Matt would give us exactly what we were looking for in a DJ. And boy, did he deliver!

Matt did an awesome job at our wedding reception! I had a *blast* dancing all night. Numerous friends and family members have commented to us about the great DJ we had. Matt did such a great job keeping me (and even my husband at times!) and all of our guests dancing and having a great time all night long. Thank you Matt, for making our wedding reception the fun filled night I hoped it would be.

Thank you to all of you for helping to make such a special night in our lives perfect. We have wonderful memories of our wedding reception and you all played a very important part in that. You all do a wonderful job!"

This is why we do what we do and why our DJ's are so passionate.
Eileen and Mike, thank you so much for your kind words. We're so glad you were happy! We wish you the best!

Alison and Troy

Alison and Troy were married last month at Holly Hedge. They had a beautiful ceremony and reception - Jason DJ'd both and we provided the plasmas and did the up lighting. We recently received a lovely letter from Alison's father, Steve, that I'd like to share.

"This note is overdue. We wanted to thank you again for the fantastic work you and your assistant did with the wedding and reception. Your performance as master of ceremonies was just as we had hoped it would be when we started planning the event.

The red up lighting absolutely made the room. We can’t imagine what it would have looked like if we hadn’t done it. It was so dramatic and it created such warmth in the room. The still pictures look beautiful with the lighting in the background. We can’t wait to see what it did for the video.

Speaking of video, the clip during the father/daughter dance came out perfect. It was the hit of the evening. We got so many compliments and many of the men commented that they had gotten 'misty' eyed. Thank you for your kind words after it was over. It was the moment we had planned for so long and it clearly exceeded our expectations.

Overall, every one of the people involved in the making this wedding either met or exceeded our expectations. But we really believe you and Albie were the keys to it. You two work so well together.

Once more, thank you for doing such a wonderful job and making the only major event of our lives such a success. We will never forget it.

With warm regards,
Ellie and Steve"

Ellie and Steve, we're so glad you were pleased with our services. It was a beautiful wedding and we're so glad we could be a part of such an important time in your lives. We wish you, Alison and Troy all the best!

Here is a video clip of the father/daughter dance that Steve mentioned in his letter. While Alison and Steve were dancing, playing on the plasmas was video of the two of them dancing together at an event when she was 7. Thanks so much to Steve Newbert at All Occasion Video for the clip!
