One of the things I always explain to our clients about planning certain parts of their event is what their guests will see. Sometimes this is hard because it’s not too easy to put your self in their shoes and see it from their eyes. But one thing that you can think of when you are planning your event is to remember that the event is for you, but about your guests.
Let me explain, my best friends wife is a vegetarian. When we go to their house for events, they know that most of their friends love the typical hot dogs and hamburgers. They also aren’t very big drinkers. A bottle of wine is usually all they have. But they know their friends love a good beer and new, cool cocktails.
So every single time we go there, they have catered to us, even though the event is for them. They don’t have a dry, vegetarian event. They keep us in mind and plan an event that will make sure we all want to come back.
Now sometimes, it’s important to keep your values in play. And there are plenty of ways to do that. Be creative, but always try to think of the guests that might not have the same values. It’s pretty easy to make cool non-Alcoholic drinks or interesting pasta dishes for meat-eaters. Thinking of them will make them want to come back to other events you plan or host.
